I remember hearing this and feeling the emotion from the vocalist's point of view. Girls were starting to become a grat interest to me and I loved this soft rock songs that shared their feelings and heart felt lyrics.
I do remember his slow hit, Dancing Shoes and didn't think too much when I can this a listen. It's pretty good. It's soft rock but by no means a slow ballad. And what is this a cover..of a BIlly Joel song.
I remember these hits on this were all over the radio. There isn't anything wrong with this album with the only exception it's 2 or 3 years past it's window. If this came out in 78 or even 79 this would have been huge. This album would have given Christopher Cross a run for his money. If your like your Rock soft or if you enjoy Pop, this album is very very good. There are some song that could rival the hits that came off of this release. There isn't a bad song on this.
This is actually really good. It's Soft Rock, very similar to Christopher Cross or Roger Voudouris. There are some that are a bit more rock...but not many. He's just two or three years behind the window for this genre.
I always thought this was James Taylor...This takes me back to when would get ready for school in the morning, my older brother loved the softer stuff, where I liked punk, new wave and metal. We would take turns on alternating days listening to the local radio stations. It's funny how during the time, I would cringe at this sappy shit. Now...it takes me back to when responsibility in my life was next to zero and never took a chance to recognize it.
The part that I enjoy the most is the intro. Some strings, much like a TV theme song, and then the bass kicks in, and the music changes into nearly a country song, an octave change, and we have ourselves a love song.
Wow....When I was going over albums from 1980, I saw this and thought I would see what was on it. I thought I would listen to Midnight Rocks, and hey... I have heard this one before and forgot all about this one...
It's so strange that songs like this are buried in the mind somewhere and BAM ... Musical Flashback!
I think I dismissed it back in the day since it wasn't no where near the caliber of Year Of The Cat or Time Passages. The part of the song I enjoy the most, is the vocal timing on the verses...So similar to a Simon & Garfunkel song. It's hypnotic.
My cousin was a HUGE Elton John fan, and we were baptized endlessly with his music. I didn't care for him at the time, well...maybe some Bennie & The Jets, and Pinball Wizard, but this light airy stuff I ignored. Only to now realize that the man and his music is legendary. My favorite part of Little Jeannie well after the sax solo when Elton sings, Oh Jeannie...it's the echo, 'Oh Jeannie'..love it!
