Just discovered today! Simnple rock and roll is the best rock and roll!
There isn't an element that stands out from any other. It all just fits together. Well crafted with various hooks and catchy chorus, reminds me a little bit of 10cc at times, but isn't as complex.
There aren't too many ballads that I enjoy, but this is one of them. I have seen Alice Cooper 7 times because I enjoy his showmanship as well as his music. Alice was also a person that had his problems shared with the media. We knew he had some marital issues as well as a problem with alcohol. I imagined this song as he wrote it to his wife while in rehab. Not sure if that was the case, but it will always hold a special place in my audio memory. From The Inside was such an increible album. The songs were had intricate and melodic as well as a lyrical masterpiece thanks to the collaboration of Bernie Taupin.
Finding a Power Pop gem is like going back in time for me. I just heard this one for the first time today. It has such an upbeat feel that is seems almost familair.
Memories of Rolling skating at WSU on 27th street. I was such a dweeb. I was socially inept and struggled to be accepted in any circle. With Rolling Skating....This was no exception. I couldn't skate backwards so slow skating with the ladies were out...The only thing I could do was take in the music. Disco was popular at these places, and triggers the memories, which looking back...overall...I enjoyed myself, and that is all that mattered.
One of my favorites movies of all time. Very surprised it hasn't been remade. I am not for redoing Classics, and to me this is a Classic however, apparently Hollywood doesn't agree with that. Call Me, Snake
I have just come to realize something. I find the Carpenter's music soothing and enjoyable. II's her voice. It's hypnotic. I never even considered The Carpenters as something I would ever listen to. It deserves a place here.
This has to be the result of the cacophony of music that erupted as this was something that I clearly missed when it came out. Female New Wave was one of my dominant genres. Some of the songs are funny and campy but still done very well. I appreciate the Male/Female vocal lead trade off, it gives them a little more depth. And what is this... a cover? NICE!!
I didn't expect to find much on this based on the Title, Cats in the 80s was solely pointed as the over rated craptastic Musical by over more overrated Andrew Lloyd Weber. Any how, I wish I could find more, the track I would is incredible.
There was the 4 solos albums, and then there was this. No matter what I read or heard, it was labeled awful and certainly not KISS. So.... I listened to what everyone was saying, and never listened to this. I don't mind Peter Criss's vocals what so ever. His voice is better than Bob Dylan's or Tim Curry's. This release opens with a ballad, and then with a rock song that has an intro that reminds me a little of Doctor Love. Over all this is a rock album with a touch of blues, and nothing I would place in musical rotation. And..what's this....oh my ... a cover!!
I never cared for Tim Curry, acting or singer, and proves it ... I do remember this song and found it amusing if anything. I could listen to this played backwards, at half speed, and it's better than any Joy Division song.
This is about as Country Rock as I get. I never heard of these guys before and I gave them a listen. It wasn't anything special until I got to the 6th track. I am going to re listen to this at some time as some of the tracks may very well end up in rotation.
Elvis was all over the place and I never gave him his due. I'm not sure if it was because of his name or his look. I thought it was all too contrived and dismissed his music. Big mistake. Once you adapt to his vocal style, his music is brilliant. This is the album that brought us "Pump It Up", but there are many many more really great songs on here.
It's silly, aggressive and offensive, but there is some substance here, not much, but enough to put it on here. At first I thought there was a typo on my list of albums, but...apparently Wayne, is now Jayne.
Peter Cetera gave the band Chicago a much need breath of fresh air. I didn't know he even released a solo effort. I enjoy his voice and wonder what this release would sound like. It definitely has a little more rock orientated sound on it's opening track. This release almost has a Bryan Adams vibe to it. but all said and done, It sounds a lot like Chicago.
I didn't know that this existed, and that Jonathan Cain was born is Chicago and a member of The Babys. I didn't know what to expect from this. There is definitely some good hooks on this, and the songs are well written. Reminds me a little of Atlanta Rhythm Section meets Boz Scaggs with some Steely Dan mixed in. Moon Child and Go Now! are good songs but I found them a bit out of place.
Oh my, I had no idea this existed. I am not sure if it would have been better undiscovered or not. This isn't good, at all, BUT It is better than anything by Joy Division. What do we have here, a cover song? Oh jes...
Their are many song that remind me a lot of Alice Cooper. From the vocal delivery to the screaming guitars. There are other that are Rockabilly and goofy, hated those.
I love their harmonies, but this album is a good one if you need to sleep. If it wasn't for "Darkstar" and "I Give You Give Blind", there isn't much on this with the exception of the hit off of this release which was not slow enough to slow dance to, and not fast enough to fast dance to. I normally turned the radio to another station when this came on, but now I have grown fond of it.
