ABBA - Gimmie! Gimmie! Gimmie! (A Man After Midnight) - 1979

Layered harmonies, well crafted melodies along with lyrics that envoke mental imagery and an emotional response. Yet another way to describe the incredbile music of ABBA. There are not many, if any, songs from ABBA that I don't find enjoyable. A staple in the era of music!

Advertising - The Lonely Guys (1978)

I've always been a lover of the music out of England from the late 70s. The Power Pop genre is such a happy upbeat musical offering that keeps satisfying. Just heard this one today and thought I would share it.

Angry Samoans - Inside My Brain (1980)

Never heard this but this will be going into musical rotation. This should and might have been played In Cutter's basement. This is very reminiscent of the music I was into at that time. I am featuring the longest track on this release, which is 2:04

Anti-Pasti - The Last Call (1981)

DISCOVERED

I do remember the band's name and that it was punk.Since this was way after the Cutter years, this wan't on my musical radar.  I was embracing the video musical explosion and taking in all I could. This release is awesome...This is the way I like my punk.

The Addrisi Brothers - Addrisi Brothers (1977)

MEMORY
Wow, forgot about this song. It isn't a song I would particular listen to myself, but I do recall my older brother or my mother had the single. I tolerated it because there was a reference to playing some Rock and Roll.

All in all this is an okay release. His vocals are an acquired taste, just not mine. The music on the other hand is solid. The guitars are raw and simple. The song I am featuring is Rock, but nearly Punk.

This band never hit the radar for me, on my own or down at Cutter's. This is how I like my Punk...Aggressive, Snotty and full of energy.

Atlanta Rhythm Section - Champagne Jam (1978)

MEMORY
I remember loving "So Into You" and getting this from the library. I remember being a lot more country than I would have liked. I do recall the title track and that was okay. I also recall liking "I'm Not Going To Let It Bother Me Tonight". There was once in particular that I remember recording of the radio on to a cassette tape, because I thought it was fantastic. One thing about Imaginary Lovers...Satisfaction Guaranteed!

Avengers - We Are The One (1977)

DISCOVERED
My affinity for female fronted bands didn't transcribe into the Punk scene too much. So bands that had them didn't get the listen they deserved. This is a 3 track EP, and From the first chord on "We Are The One" you can tell you are in for a treat. Loud guitars and Pounding drums. 1,2,3,4, Track 2, "I Believe In Me", again old school Punk. Not that bullshit that calls itself punk now of days. Side 2, one last song, which is unfortunate, because this stuff rules! Car Crash, listen to that Bass! Total 9 minutes 43 seconds of 1977 Punk Rock!!

Accept - Breaker (1981)

Okay, Udo is an acquired taste, it's the roots of heavy metal. I never liked his vocals back in the day. Putting him uo against he influx of Cookie Monster Metal bands, he is a vocal god. Son of a Bitch!

AC/DC - Back in Black (1980)

MEMORY
Let me first say, when this came out, I denied it. I hated Brain Johnson when I heard his voice. HATED IT! to me, Bon Scott was AC/DC. To me, Highway To Hell is one of the greatest records off all time. done.. With my musical hunger looking to be fed, I have come to LOVE this album. This album is incredible. There are sooo many great songs on here.

I didn't know what to expect, Power Pop to moderate Rock and Roll. It has that classic rock sound and rightly fully so, as I found an Eddie Cochran song on this release. This remind me a lot of Slade meets the Bay City Rollers.

Avengers - Avengers (1978)

DISCOVERED
Another discovered Female Punk band. I have heard of them but never heard them. Perhaps all the hype or hoopla is a bit extreme as they are not all that. Their sound is much more polished than let's say X-Ray Spex, but the rawness from The Avengers comes from the music and not the vocals.

If Rick Springfield and Elvis Costello had a love child this is what it would sound like. This power pop group may not be as polished and raw as most bands in this genre but deserved to be listened to.

ABBA - Arrival (1977)

MEMORY
In my opinion, simply their best album. There are so many great songs on here. Thanks to my older brother you played this over and over and over. I never got it at the time, but ABBA is up there with bands like the Bees Gees, Duran Duran, Queen, where there songs are so well crafted. There will be no audio memories to share. Only for the music, which we thank you for.

Unique and similar at the same time. This has elements of Pop, New Wave, and Disco. The songs are fun and campy. It's a cross between ABBA and Total Coelo. Very upbeat and at times relentlessly goofy.

I don't understand how I missed this. Let's see 1980, Back In Black, The Game, New Clear Days, Unmasked, Los Angeles, so much to listen to. There is some really good stuff on here. The guitar just screams! Before there was Slayer, there was another....

1981 and Disco is on life support. There's not much complexity on this, but simple can be okay. Some decent melodies and some unique vocals that make some of these songs memorable. There is more of Disco New wave feel throughout. Now, why does a Scottish girl dress like a Japanese Geisha, I have no idea.

Well, if you didn't know .. During this era, I hated bands like ABBA, The Bee Gees, any Disco, I hated the fluff shit... I was a punker, and a rocker...but after  I broadened my music taste, somewher in the mid to late 90s, when my daughter started listening to music...any how...I am a HUGE ABBA fan
When this came out, my older brother had this one, and he listened to it a lot...There are so many great songs on here, I could listen to these ABBA release front to back and sing along the whole way.
