Here is one that I recently discovered that has a little bit of a Southern flair, kinda like .38 Special. But it's more rock than country. This definitely would not have made my musical taste when it came out, but this is a solid tune that deserves to be on here.
Once in a while you can't wait for the radio to play a specific song, and this was one of those songs. I only remember the hit off of this... But listening to the album...Wow, this really good. I forgot how polished these guys were. Instantly added this album into rotation.
Early 80s Heavy Metal, from Sweden. This may have been bigger than if the production value was a little better. At times the drums are bit 'dead' and the vocals are buried a bit, but it's Heavy Metal!
I remember this from both roller skating and that my older brother bought this and play the shit out of it. It's catchy I do recall the vocal solo, and how I always hoped it was not the long version.
Another album that based on the name and the title I would have never picked up, let alone listen to. Some track has a very slight country vibe, almost like The Eagles mixed with Tom Petty, and other are Rock or Power Pop, but the distortion on the guitars is little to none. There are some really good songs on this Street Talk, Skate Date, Givin' Herself Away and this one...
If you went skating during it's peak, you heard this. Possibly more than once a night...Possibly more than twice a night...It's not a bad song. It's reminds me of when disco was king and if you didn't dance you weren't cool. I was not cool. I love the funky groove and the bass line. I do remember, the trumpets in the song. That's what made it for me.
I rarely bought 45s, but I did buy one from Head East, Since You've Been Gone in 1978... There was their live album and then I stopped. There is some good stuff on here, and glad I gave it a listen.
I am wondering if the influx of Canadian music wasn't included into the mainstream in the late 70s. I am discovering a vast list of undiscovered bands for those hosers. This band sound like a mix of Sweet and Foghat. Added to rotation, Good Stuff!
I am sure that everyone has heard this, probably too many times. Iknow I have... It was a Roller Skating anthem..So I will do everyone a favor and play the shortest version I can find. You're welcome.
The most memorable thing I remember on this was how disappointed I was when I heard it. I bought it without hearing a note. I was record shopping, when the album was being stocked. I picked it up. It was Heart. Ann and Nancy Wilson, how could you go wrong. Well, the album seem to be missing the production quality I was expecting. It sounded like Ann and Nancy did this themselves. Vocally, it's sound... but it a little softer than I hoped for.
I could only find a few song from this release, some were okay, and some were great! It sounds like a cross between Toto meets 10cc. I will share the two I enjoyed the most.
Once again, know their hits, but not any of their b sides or deep cuts. There is one song in particular that sounds vaguely familiar, but not enough to jar a memory. Even the album looks familiar. I most likely picked it up at the LP bargain bin, looked at the back, scanned the titles of the songs and said... nope, don't see anything I know on here. Here is the song that I believe I have heard before.
Ahh! Good one...I found out about these guys on the seconds sampler from the CBS called Exposed II. Exposed and Exposed II...so many great songs and that might be where I got my musical taste from. There was anything from Judas Priest, Loverboy, Adam & The Ants to Karla DeVito and Holly &The Italians. My younger brother enjoyed these songs just as much as me.
GUESS WHO
If I had to to pick a part of the song that I remember the most, is the fade echo vocals ear the end chorus of the song
